Manterola Ranch

Ponderosa pine and Gambel oak dominate this historic ranch, which has been in the Manterola family since 1945. Located in Coconino County, this important 78-acre property provides valuable open space around Camp Navajo, grazing for cattle and sheep and prime wildlife habitat. To the north lies the Kaibab National Forest and to the east, west, and south lies the Coconino National Forest. Mexican spotted owl, black bear, Merriam’s turkey, mountain lion, javelina, coyote, mule deer, and white-tailed deer are resident.

After placing a conservation easement on the property, the Manterola family donated ownership to the Arizona Elk Society, which will use it as a youth camp. As a migratory corridor for elk, this organization is thrilled to have this opportunity. The Central Arizona Land Trust will work with the Arizona Elk Society to monitor the property annually, per the terms of the perpetual conservation easement.
